Over the first three games, Virginia has covered the spread only once. They are averaging over 41 points per game, which is nearly two touchdowns more than Wake Forest has allowed so far per game.  The high-powered offense also has racked up over 550 yards per game, which is 250 more per game than Wake Forest is surrendering. One thing to note is when the Cavaliers gain at least 308 yards, they are 1-1 against the spread and 2-1 overall. While Wake Forest is adept at forcing turnovers, Virginia has given up the football only four times in their first three games.

Wake Forest has a much more balanced attack. Quarterback Sam Hartman has thrown for 691 yards and six touchdowns. His top two receivers have been A.T. Perry and Jaquarii Roberson, who have combined for 399 yards and four touchdowns on 25 receptions. Christian Beal-Smith heads a potent rushing attack with 229 yards and four touchdowns. As a team, Wake Forest is averaging just under 170 rushing yards per game. Defensively, The Demon Deacons already have eight sacks, six interceptions, and three forced fumbles.

Against the spread this season, Wake Forest is 2-1. Note that in none of their games this season has the point total gone over the line.  Wake Forest averages a shade over 39 points per game, which is more than a touchdown greater than Virginia has allowed. When the Demon Deacons reach 24 points, they are 2-1 against the spread. Wake Forest is averaging nearly the same number of yards per game as Virginia has allowed over the first three weeks of the season.  The Demon Deacons aren’t likely to turn the ball over in this one. They have coughed up the ball only four times and Virginia has forced only three turnovers.

Kickoff for this game is 7:00 PM Eastern Time and will be televised on ESPN2. Virginia is a 4-point home favorite with an over/under of 67.
