The Seattle Seahawks host the Los Angeles Rams on October 7 at 8:20 PM Eastern Time. The Rams opened the season with a 3-0 record, but fell flat at home last week to the Cardinals, losing 37-20.  Seattle rebounded from a 1-2 start to take down the 49ers on the road, 28-21. It might be a relatively early season contest, but divisional games are important particularly between two playoff contenders. The Rams are a 2-point favorite with an over/under of 54 ½.

The Rams are led by quarterback Matthew Stafford, who has thrown for 1222 yards and 11 touchdowns. He’s only been intercepted two times and sacked three times. He’s tossed at least two touchdown passes every game and will go up against a weak Seattle secondary that has allowed over 290 yards passing per game.

That means Cooper Kupp, who already has 30 catches and five touchdowns, along with Van Jefferson, Roberts Woods, and Tyler Hibgie could have plenty of room to roam.  Last week, Trey Lance threw for 157 yards in the second half and hit Deebo Samuel deep against Seattle.   The matchup between the Rams offense and the Seahawks secondary is one to watch with a decided edge to the Rams.

Seattle still has Russell Wilson, which means there is always a chance. He’s completed over 72 percent of his passes for 1044 and nine touchdowns, without an interception. Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf have combined for 40 catches for 618 yards and nine touchdowns.  The Rams have a fearsome pass rush and Wilson has been sacked 11 times.  The offensive line of Seattle versus the defensive line for Los Angeles is another to watch. If Seattle can hold their own, Wilson will have time to find his top targets and keep the Seahawks in the game.

The ground games can also play a key role in the game. Both need to get going to take pressure off the quarterbacks. The Rams ground game is led by Darrell Henderson, who has rushed for 212 yards and is averaging 4.9 per carry.  Chris Carson has posted similar numbers of 232 yards, three touchdowns and 4.3 yards per carry.  The Rams ranked 21st against the run, allowing 123.5 yards per game. Seattle is last in the NFL, allowing a whopping 152 yards per contest.
