We look to cash another NBA free play winner Wednesday night as the Heat visit the Lakers for the 2nd matchup in the last 4 games.
Oddsmakers have the Heat favored by 4 with an O/U at 227.5 points. The Lakers will have their hands full tonight as they face the 3rd ranked Miami defense, allowing just 109 points/game. In the same matchup just 6 days ago the Heat came out on top 112-98 as the under covered by 16.5 points. It’s noteworthy that the Heat struggle offensively on the road, ranking 30th in the NBA with 109 PPG in away games. They also rank 30th overall in scoring for all games, showing that they play a slower, more physical style of ball. We expect Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo and company to lock down defensively. While he certainly may play, Lakers SF Lebron James is listed as questionable with an ankle injury. If he’s out, they will really struggle to facilitate offense. If he’s in, we like the matchup as his game against Miami on 12/28 was the fewest points he or his team has scored in the last 12 games. A line of 227.5 points would have gone 8-2 in the Heat’s last 10 games showing that they don’t hit this mark frequently. Similarly, in the last 10 matchups between these teams, this number has hit under 80% of the time. Lastly, the public is heavily on the over tonight with ~75% of bettors taking it early.
