Monday NIght Football closes out the first week of the NFC playoffs and we lock in as the Dallas Cowboys visit the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Our focus goes to player prop value within the Bucs backfield, specifically running back Leonard Fournette. Oddsmakers have his lines at O/U 35.5 rushing yards and O/U 27.5 receiving yards. Tampa Bay has been way too pass heavy this season compared to their Super Bowl formula two years ago. We expect them to focus more on the ground game tonight to give Tom Brady some better passing lanes. While the Dallas defense is stout, their one weakness this season has been defending the run. They rank 22nd in the NFL allowing 129.3 rushing yds/game. These teams faced each other once this season in week 1. A lot has changed since then, but Fournette gashed Dallas for 127 rushing yards, averaging 6 yds/carry. Do you think they will try to re-establish this success tonight? Absolutely! “Playoff Lenny” isn’t his nickname for no reason. Fournette has made a living off of big games in January for both the Jaguars and Buccaneers in his career. In 8 career playoff games, Fournette has averaged 18 carries and 74 rushing yards/game. His lowest output in any game was 51 yards. Based on his past production and Tampa Bay’s desperate need for a ground attack, we expect him to get 15+ carries tonight, meaning he would need to average just 2.4 yards/carry to hit this number.
