P dub nation, there is value tonight in the Nets first game since the Kyrie Irving trade became official. We look at the Nets player props, specifically point guard Edmond Sumner. His lines are as follows: O/U 14.5 points, O/U 5.5 rebounds, and O/U 3.5 assists.

While Spencer Dinwiddie and Dorian Finney-Smith travel from Dallas and get settled with the team, there is a huge continued opportunity for Sumner tonight. In Saturday night’s game Sumner took over a large part of Irving’s role as starting point guard. He got up 19 shot attempts, pouring in 29 points even though he was just 2 of 9 from deep. Guard Seth Curry will also be unavailable tonight so Sumner should see a heavy shooting load again tonight. If he can be a little more efficient from 3-point range, we see him hitting his number easily tonight. There is speculation Ben Simmons may get some tick after his knee injury, but likely will be on a minutes restriction. And as everyone publicly knows, he doesn’t shoot much so it may help Sumner, if anything. While some bettors may shy away from Sumner because his PPG average on the year is just 7.1, we are bold and ready. When a player’s role increases you have to look at their per-40 stats to extrapolate their value & opportunity with a minutes-played increase. On the season, Sumner’s points per 40 minutes is 20.1 meaning even with a healthy Nets roster he scored efficiently when he got playing time. Considering he played a team-high 39 minutes Saturday, we can expect large workload again tonight.
