Tuesday night NBA free play value is found early in Game 1 between the Lakers and Warriors. Both offenses tonight should be really fun to watch with Lebron and Curry leading their respective teams. The game pace should pick up eventually, but we feel that it will take a few looks to get comfortable as each team adjusts to the new playoff series matchups. For this reason, the 1st quarter total of O/U 58.5 is appealing. These teams faced each other 4 times during the regular season (when much worse defense was being played) and the 1st quarter totals equaled 51, 54, 43, and 57 points, respectively. Not once did they accumulate the 59+ points as the line tonight suggests. Through the first round series’ both teams played much better, more physical defense than they did all season. Look for this to continue as Anthony Davis protects the rim exceptionally well and the Warriors play quality team defense, likely featuring more Kevon Looney protecting the paint. The Lakers were the 2nd best team in the entire NBA at defending the three point line this season so they have the capacity to slow down Golden State’s splash brothers. If neither team is hitting threes from the start, this total could easily cash the under. Let’s be sharp tonight!
